As the only non-profit Hospice in the region affiliated with Mary Washington Healthcare, we cater to a diverse population – pediatrics to geriatrics. Our holistic and inter-disciplinary team embraces complementary and expressive therapy (music and massage), and we have an extensive volunteer group.
We provide our services at assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities and at private homes. Here you will find a commitment to professional development through educational stipends, certifications and more. We offer flexible scheduling, limited on-call and the ability to use you.
· Graduate of an accredited nursing program and has experience as a Registered Nurse.
· NOTE: PRN position must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a Registered Nurse
· Registered Nurse licensed or eligible to practice in Virginia.
· BSN is preferred; all new Registered Nurses with an Associate's Degree in Nursing will be required to obtain their BSN within five years.
· CPR, required
a. Possess a current, valid driver's license; must meet the driver suitability criteria for MWHC.
b. Previous experience in hospice, home health, or geriatrics preferred. Experienced in pain and symptom management, based in current and best practice.
c. Demonstrated understanding of hospice criteria and commitment to hospice philosophy of care; with demonstrated ability to advocate and teach hospice philosophy of care to other clinicians, patients and family.
d. Provides effective end-of-life education for the patient and/or caregiver and/or volunteers and provides direct care as appropriate.
e. Shares in providing 24-hour seven-day-a-week coverage to patients and families.
f. Participates on committees, special projects, and other related duties as assigned.
g. Serve patients in all age groups, in home or long-term care setting.
