JOB SUMMARY


The Invasive Cardio Vascular Technology Specialist assists in cardiovascular procedures in the Scrub and Monitoring capacity. INV-CVT assists team in providing direct patient care within the scope of their practice. Additional, this position participates in unit committee and quality improvement activities.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – Other duties may be assigned.
  • Utilizes sterile process to assist physician during procedures, which includes all of the following: maintain sterile field, anticipate needs, and understand use and proper prep of invasive devices.

  • Assist in patient care within scope of practice. Reports observed changes in patient status to RN.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of safe medication administration during physician assisted procedures.

  • Reports unresolved needs in reference to monitoring documentation prior to discharge from procedure room.

  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and organize patient care.

  • Timely and accurate event documentation which reflects hospital/unit standards and includes procedure specifics (i.e. proc. Type, supply use, chronological entry).

  • Completes patient care assignments within the designated shift.

  • Coolaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support quality patient outcomes.

 

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates Degree in Cardiovascular technology.

  • Current certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or RRT required (new graduates with Associates degree in Cardio vascular technology have six months to test and gain certification).

  • Basic Life Support (BLS Provider) certification from the American Heart Association required. 

  • ACLS certification from the American Heart Association required within 1 year of hire.

  • IABP certification preferred.
