The Invasive Cardio Vascular Technology Specialist assists in cardiovascular procedures in the Scrub and Monitoring capacity. INV-CVT assists team in providing direct patient care within the scope of their practice. Additional, this position participates in unit committee and quality improvement activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – Other duties may be assigned.
Utilizes sterile process to assist physician during procedures, which includes all of the following: maintain sterile field, anticipate needs, and understand use and proper prep of invasive devices.
Assist in patient care within scope of practice. Reports observed changes in patient status to RN.
Demonstrates knowledge of safe medication administration during physician assisted procedures.
Reports unresolved needs in reference to monitoring documentation prior to discharge from procedure room.
Demonstrates the ability to prioritize and organize patient care.
Timely and accurate event documentation which reflects hospital/unit standards and includes procedure specifics (i.e. proc. Type, supply use, chronological entry).
Completes patient care assignments within the designated shift.
Coolaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support quality patient outcomes.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Associates Degree in Cardiovascular technology.
Current certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or RRT required (new graduates with Associates degree in Cardio vascular technology have six months to test and gain certification).
Basic Life Support (BLS Provider) certification from the American Heart Association required.
ACLS certification from the American Heart Association required within 1 year of hire.
IABP certification preferred.
